It is time to surrender the self-importance of mundane popular music. It is time to let the songs create themselves. It is time to serve the pieces as utilitarian beings! Autonomy for all songs!

Take the Utility Pledge!
1. I will allow my music to create itself by surrendering my authoritarian grip.
2. I will use a determinative device ( ie: chance, codesetc) to answer all creative questions regarding the writing (chords, rhythms, subject matter for lyricsetc) of the music.
3. A special recording method will be assigned to each piece.
4. All of the pieces will be roughly the same length and no longer than two minutes each.
5. The resulting recording will be (re)distributed in a non-traditional manner.
6. No musicians will be credited.
7. I will not consult my own tastes or stylistic biases in order to reject a part once it has been performed.
